Tyne Derwent Way

Opened April 2024, the nine-mile Tyne Derwent Way offers a green getaway that links Gateshead’s urban communities to countryside, past to present. Showcasing nature, heritage and culture along the Tyne and Derwent, it supports wellbeing, habitat restoration and access, features events and partner-led stewardship, and invites public participation and volunteering. Tees to Topping

Tees to Topping, in the early stages of development, links Middlesbrough and the Tees Estuary to the North York Moors and Roseberry Topping. This green corridor threads urban centres to moorland, reconnecting communities with nature, heritage and recreation. Passing Ormesby Beck, Stewart Park, Ormesby Hall, Flatts Lane and Guisborough Forest, it will seek to better connect the region's natural and cultural assets.

Durham City Green Corridor

The recently established Durham City Green Corridor will link Durham's World Heritage city centre and Crook Hall Gardens to over 1,000 hectares of green and blue space, knitting urban life to riverside nature. The corridor aims to enhance access, strengthen recreational and cultural routes, bolster biodiversity, and develop an integrated landscape of wellbeing and shared heritage, to reconnect people to nature, to the city and to each other.
